Our trip to Turks and Caicos was great, its always nice to be somewhere the English language is spoken by most people. Sibonne Resort was wonderful, the rooms were very clean and offered several amenities-TV, coffee maker and mini fridge. The restaurant on the property which is on site but operated by a separate entity had good food and lots of it. The seating was either under the roof but no wall which offers a good view of the ocean or outside on the beach itself. My only real criticism of the entire trip is that when you want ice for the ice bucket in the room you have to go the bar in the restaurant and wait for the barkeeper or one of the wait staff to get the ice for you. We could not help but feel we were putting them out by asking for ice and facing the internal question of should I tip them for this. Either the resort or the restaurant should bite the bullet and invest in a ice machine that is accessible to guests. I won’t try to complain about the cost of food as it wasn’t just the restaurants that were high, when we went to the local supermarket to stock the mini fridge everything was high there as well and the locals were paying it as well as us. Its an island and its all imported. We ate at several restaurants thru the week and all were excellent with our favorite being the Sharkbite. Once again I won’t criticize the slow pace of service-island time. We went to the local park for a islander-tourist mixer (on Thursday I believe) and had a wonderful time, several of the local eateries had a booth and were serving some of their offerings. A local band played most of the evening and then a marching band of some sort marched down the boulevard with what appeared to be the Grand Conch field marshal leading the procession. They were wonderfully costumed and played with Gusto! This park was beachside so you had a good view of the ocean to enjoy as well. The diving was fabulous with sharks on almost every dive. Dive Provo did a good job leading the dives but not mother henning you to death. I heartily recommend the island, the Sibonne Resort and the diving, plus Dive Provo. The only caveat- take extra money as food is high.
