About Curacao

Curacao is a Southern Caribbean island with extensive coral reef formations along its coastline. Because of this, the island is a very attractive scuba diving destination. Curacao's has a semi-arid, sunny climate so diving takes place here all year round. Furthermore, the picturesque European-style architecture contrasts nicely with the islands' tropical vibe. The historic capital Willemstad is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. English is widely spoken on the island. Therefore, communication is easy and the dollar is freely circulated. DIVING CURACAO

65 identified dive sites dot/encircle the island's coast line. As a result, boat dive sites are close by. Most scuba diving sites have moorings and little or no currents. However, some sites require drift or advanced diving experience. Abundant tropical Caribbean fishes, corals, sponges, and invertebrates means divers will encounter colorful reefs. So, underwater photographers will be busy too. Wreck, and deep diving are both available along the reefs and walls. Meanwhile, there are over 350 marine species and 60 coral types to observe. So, the green turtle, hawksbill turtle, as well as eels, triton’s trumpet, and queen conch reside here. Stingrays and sharks are also offshore residents of this island. Moreover, shore diving is done from 40 locations. therefore, both divers and snorkelers will be happy. Notable dive sites are Watamula, Paradise, Mushroom Forest, and Beacon Point. The island of Klein Curacao and the Superior Producer wreck are also quite popular.

ACCOMMODATIONS, ATTRACTIONS AND ACTIVITIES 

Couples, groups, families and singles can have their choice of accommodations. Dive resorts, all-inclusive, apartments, large and small hotels dot the island. There are 8 museums to visit. The Maritime and National Archaeological Anthropological museums won't disappoint. Curacao Carnival and North Sea Jazz Festival are noteworthy events. The oldest synagogue in continuous use in the Western Hemisphere is here. Hike in Christoffel National park.  In addition, you can go cycling or take an adventure land tour. Most of all, enjoy a plethora of water sports when not scuba diving.

While in Curacao, you can dive the famous Tugboat, the world’s cutest wreck. Just a few short fin kicks from shore and you’re on the dive of your life. Check out the star coral in the Mushroom Forest and the Superior Producer, another famous wreck that stands upright at 104 feet, brilliant with orange coral. Curacao is located at 12 degrees north and 69 degrees west in the Caribbean, Curacao is just 35 miles north of Venezuela, 42 miles east of Aruba and 30 miles west of Bonaire. Highest elevation is Mount Christoffel at 1,239 feet. The capital, Willemstad, is a UNESCO World Heritage site, rich with culture, unique architecture, museums, and an array of restaurants celebrating native, Caribbean and worldwide cuisine. The island is also recognized for its world-class diving and many land-based activities.
