Aurora Diving
November to April the ship explores the islands around Raja Ampat. Where there are over 1,500 species of fish, 600 types of coral and at least 15 marine mammals. S0, while here plan to explore caves, caverns, tunnels, drift dives, and muck dives. More importantly, you may encounter pygmy seahorses, frogfish, fin walking eppaulette sharks, and wobbegong sharks. From May to October the ships heads to the Komodo National Park. Here, while scuba diving from the Aurora, you will find large pelagics such as sharks, rays, and perhaps even a whale shark, or an enormously large bait ball of fish. On shore you may see one of the largest reptiles on earth, the Komodo Dragon. So, plan on 26-42 dives depending on the trip. Raja Ampat trips are 11-13 nights, and the Komodo trips run 7-9 nights.
Attractions and Activities
In addition to day and night diving, you can snorkel too. Furthermore, the Aurora carries, stand up paddle boards, and kayaks are available too. So, you may be able to visit and uninhabited island, visit a pink sand beach, or visit a fishing village. You can hike up Penemu Island and view all around, or keep an eye out for birds of Paradise. From the surface you might see a single whale shark, or a pod of dolphins. More importantly, the food is delicious and served three times a day plus snacks between dives. The Aurora has a camera section in the great lounge where you can charge your items. The lounge and dining area is quite spacious and comfortable, but it is the upper sun deck where the action really slows down between dives. Inflatable tenders are use to send you ship to shore, as well as dive.
