Rocio del Mar is a 112ft scuba diving liveaboard that is based in Mexico in either Puerto Peñasco or Cabo San Lucas. The yacht has 10 guest cabins and holds a maximum of 20 divers or a minimum of 10. The two cabins on the upper deck each have 1 full and one single bed. One the main deck 2 cabins have double beds, and 6 cabins have 2 single beds. Rocio del Mar Diving
From Cabo, they do scuba diving trips out to Socorro November to May. The journey takes the ship 26-28 hours depending on weather. They visit the volcanic islands of San Benedicto, Socorro, and Roca Partido. The islands are also known as the Revillagigedo Islands. When Rocio del Mar nears each island separately, they look bare and Socorro looks like a grey manatee resting on its side. San Benedicto appears more reddish in color. Roca Partida is actually a pinnacle with two blunt points protruding out of the water and covered white with guano. The major attractions for those on the Rocio del Mar are the giant mantas, and some 10 species of sharks.
The sharks include whale sharks, small white tips hiding together under rocks, and larger pelagics white tips hanging out at the edge of the blue. Silver tips, silkies, schooling hammerheads, dusky, thresher, and an occasional tiger shark round out the scenic picture. January to April humpback whales come to visit Rocio del Mar. Some dive sites include: Cabo Pearce, Punta Tosca, and Aquarium for Socorro. El Fondadero, The Boiler, and El Canyon are popular dive sites for San Benedicto. Attractions and Activities
Unique to Rocio del Mar, the air-conditioned dining room is located in the forward section of the lower deck. So, just like First Class on an airplane, this prime location reduces motion during the meal service. Square port windows still give you a natural light and a view. A day aboard may start with a continental breakfast, a dive, then a full breakfast, then another dive. Lunch consist of sandwiches, Burgers, pasta salads, or other lunch items. Dinner aboard Rocio del Mar is almost always 3 course events with delicious fresh seafood entries or other international cuisine. Dinner is typically followed by desert.
Limited dietary requests can be accommodated if notified well in advance. Also, there are snacks available during the day. So, Rocio del Mar has a large camera table and charger outlet station on the dive deck. Two stainless steel ladders are positioned for reentry on the dive platform. They use RIB inflatables for tenders, which they call pangas. So, a 3-5ml wet suit with a hood may be just perfect for you. Finally, 32% Nitrox is available for a fee. Moreover, when not diving? Maybe you’ll like kayaking, using the loungers on the top deck, or reading in the covered lounge on the upper deck.
