The Matangi resort was fabulous and then some. When we arrived everyone knew our names and escorted us to the treehouse. It was stunning with furnishings to match. The trees kept the temperature comfortable. The views were great and the out door shower was fun and private.
We arrived in time for lunch, they had prepared gluten free meals for me, each meal was better than the previous one. Lots of fresh fruit, great gluten free bread and muffins and lots of seafood. They had 2-3 staff singers every night at dinner. We opted out of the kava ceremony, been there, did that and didn’t like it the first time. We moved to the ocean view bure, it was another great room. Indoor and outdoor shower, air conditioned bed with a canopy net, outdoor swing and again the view was fab and it was private. I’m glad we didn’t have a beach front, it had some foot traffic, but with under 20 guests it wouldn’t have been too bad. The weather was somewhat overcast, which was great. Too much sunshine and it would have been very hot.
Diving was awesome, you can’t beat the South Pacific for coral and sea life. Dive masters were great and the boat captains even better.

Outstanding, the resort was beautiful and the staff went above and beyond to make your stay comfortable and memorable. The food was delicious and the gluten free bread was the best I’ve ever had. Every night We were serenaded by a local duo/trio that were fantastic. The music ranged from local Fijian tunes to rock/country western with an island flair. The diving was extraordinary, multitudes of fish surrounded by colorful soft and hard coral in every color imaginable. We were able to see hundreds of grouper and trigger fish spawning. There were black tip reef sharks, turtles, rays, dolphins and a variety of sea life. It was the best vacation and we hope to get back there in the future. So leave your stress and electronics behind and enjoy the laid back and beautiful Fijian way of life.
