Cabanas on Clark's Cay has 10 air-conditioned rooms and accommodates up to 20 guests. The All-inclusive scuba diving resort is located on a 4 acre island in the Bay Islands offshore of Honduras. Cabanas on Clark's Cay Diving

The scuba diving resort is set against the second greatest barrier reef in the world. There are several dive sites around the island as well as 50 dive sites around the nearby island of Gaunaja. Many of the dive sites here are walls, reefs, cracks, caves, tunnels, pinnacles, and with a few wrecks as well. Some of the popular dive sites include Black Rock Canyon, The Pinnacle, Vertigo, Jado Trader, and Michael's Rock. Captain's Crack is also close to Cabanas on Clark's Cay. Clark's Cay Dive Shop has two custom dive boats that they use to do 2-tank dives in the morning and 1 tank dive in the afternoon. Usually Tuesday evening they do a night dive. If they are diving around the north shore of Guanaja, then they stay out for the day on a 3-tank dive with lunch onboard.

Attractions and Activities

When not diving at Cabanas on Clark's Cay, you may wish to go kayaking, or snorkel around the island's reefs, glide in the infinity pool, soothe in the jetted spa tub, or perhaps aimlessly drift along in their own onsite lazy river. Afterwards you can rinse off at one of the 4 shower trees and perhaps visit the wellness center and massage room. They also have an open air bar and restaurant where the chef and staff prepare fantastic culinary delights. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner and cocktail snacks can be found at the Cantina Rio or indoors at the La Casita. They even have a pizza oven and smoker. There are also free and guided tours you might like to try, such as the Bonacca Town Tour, or the Bo's waterfall tour. Or perhaps do a Rappel and Canyon Adventure or a Forest Hike.

Flying Into Guanaja:

Airline luggage restrictions are constantly changing. Be sure to check your airline’s website (s) for the most current information on baggage allowances and restrictions. Space is limited on the inter-island planes as there are NO overhead compartments to stow luggage that normally qualifies as a carry-on. You will most likely be allowed one small carry-on bag. Pack one change of clothes, flip-flops, and a bathing suit in your carry-on, just in case luggage is delayed. Other “trip essentials” to carry with you should include your diving C-Card, DAN or other dive insurance card, medicine, sunglasses, or anything you consider necessary to begin enjoying your stay the moment you arrive.

Clothing:

Dress at the resort is very casual, so pack whatever makes you most comfortable; shorts, t-shirts, lightweight tops, pants, skirts, or dresses. No reason to overpack as the resort offers complimentary laundry service! Water shoes and/or light hiking boots are not necessary, but nice. A windbreaker or rain slicker should be considered.

Toiletries & Sundries:

We provide shampoo, conditioner, body soap, and hair dryers in the bathrooms. Towels (including beach towels) and all linens are provided.

Gadgets:

Please bring your own travel alarm clock if needed. The electric plugs in your room are the standard US 110 V plugs. European visitors will need to bring their own adapters. Don’t forget the camera! Binoculars and a flashlight are always a good idea.

Bug Spray:

Due to our island location and rocky shoreline, we are generally not bothered by mosquitoes and sand fleas to the extent mainland locations are. However, you will likely want to visit mainland Guanaja or other cays during your stay, so we still recommend you pack insect repellents such as OFF or Cutter. Also, consider packing Hydrocortisone cream or other anti-itch cream and Benadryl Tablets.

Sun Protection:

e sure to pack a hat, sunglasses, and plenty of sunscreen. Sun shirts are nice to have as well.

Batteries:

Your devices and dive equipment might require special batteries. Some batteries are difficult to obtain on Guanaja. Please bring your own spare batteries with you.

Restrictions:

You may bring items that are for your personal use including up to 2 liters of alcohol without paying import duties assuming the items are appropriate for your trip. The items may not be for commercial use such as goods for resale. Scuba divers should not bring spear guns. They are prohibited on the Bay Islands and will be held at the airport until you leave the country.

Art Supplies: Acrylic Brushes and Paints, Sports/Outdoor Activity: Frisbees, Jump Ropes, and Soccer Balls, Clothing/Shoes: New or Gently Used Children’s Clothing and Shoes, Office Supplies: Markers, Pencils, Pens, Printer Paper, Rulers, Scissors, Solar Calculators, and Staplers. If you opt to bring a sizable donation, we highly recommend placing it in a separate piece of luggage bearing a tag, labeling it as Pack for a Purpose. In this way, should you fly into Guanaja, the Airline will know to prioritize guest baggage over the Pack for a Purpose baggage, which can be delivered later. Knowing that the luggage is for Pack for a Purpose and the local community's benefit may also prevent the Airline from imposing any overweight charges.

Meals:

Meals include breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a snack provided around the cocktail hour. There will be one or two entrees prepared for each meal, announced on a blackboard in the dining area. If what you see is not for you, just let the staff know and Chef will create an alternative! Coffee is available in Las Casitas beginning around 6:30 am. Breakfast is served at Rios Cantina at 7:30. Fresh juice, fresh fruit, eggs, and bacon or sausage are always on the menu, and we find most of our guests want to eat breakfast “local” style with tortillas, beans, Chimol (pico de gallo) and hot pepper sauce. Cereal and toast are also available for those who arise earlier or who just want a light breakfast. Lunch is served whenever the morning dive boats return, the late afternoon snack after the return of the afternoon boat dive, and dinner generally around 6:30 – 7:00.

Dietary Restrictions:

Due to our small size and remote location, we offer a limited menu and must provide it in advance for our guests. Therefore, guests with food allergies or dietary restrictions must notify us of their circumstances well in advance. This and other information can be provided to us via the guest questionnaire.

Dive Gear Rental:

If you opt not to bring your own gear, we have well-maintained rental BCD’s in a variety of sizes as well as new regulators with computers, full foot fins, masks, and snorkels. We also have wetsuits, but in limited quantity, so you may wish to consider bringing your own. Be sure to tell us in advance of any dive gear rental requirements on the guest questionnaire.

Cash for Tipping:

A small amount of cash will come in handy for tipping baggage handlers and masseurs and the $10.00 in cash needed for the Environmental Fund for the Protection of Guanaja Island. You are welcome to add dive and resort staff gratuities to your room charge, paid by credit card.

Average Land Temperatures:

Prevailing ocean breezes keep the temperature in Guanaja comfortable year around. This is especially true on the Cay, where the tropical trade winds pass over the island unobstructed. The temperature is generally in the low 80s, only occasionally getting in to the high 80s during August and September.
