Hopkins Bay Resort Diving
The resort partners with the scuba diving center Belize Underwater, which is just a complimentary shuttle ride away in Hopkins. So, they have a fleet of boats that each can take out 22 divers and snorkelers combined. Besides training new divers, they have several specialty courses, and a Rusty Diver program too. They typically do 3 tank trips out to the hotspots of the Belize section of the 2
nd largest great barrier reef. So, from Hopkins Bay Resort you can travel 1 ½ hours out to
Glover’s Reef Atoll, 1 ½ hours out to
Turneffe Reef Atoll, and 3 hours out to the world-famous
Blue Hole and
Lighthouse Reef Atoll. Expect to do wall dives, reef dives, and view some 400 species of fish and some 70 species of corals.
Attractions and Activities
Hopkins Bay Resort is home to the Rhum Shack restaurant and fresh seafood. In addition, the resort is the home of the Drum Bar where they serve tacos for lunch and drinks by the pool. Moreover, for those guests that stay in the 2- or 3-bedroom cottages, you can also either stock up at the local grocery store and cook in your own private kitchen, or you can hire a Garifuna Chef and sit back and enjoy some very flavorful local cuisine. So, for activities at Hopkins Bay Resort, you can play Bocce Ball, go bicycling, kayaking or use some paddle boards. Furthermore, you can take a tour to see some Mayan ruins, visit a jaguar reserve, eat some Mayan chocolate, zip line through a jungle, or swim and go tubing in a fresh water blue hole.
