Magic Island Dive Resort Diving
You could spend days just scuba diving on the house reef,
Magic Point. On the reef you can find mandarin fish, frog fish and maybe even a pygmy seahorse. As you move out from shore you will encounter a drop off where sharks, tuna, and even whale sharks are occasionally spotted. In addition, there are over 30 dive sites near Magic Island Dive Resort. Many of the dive sites take just 10 minutes to reach by boat. Local dives include walls, caves, canyons, and colorful coral reefs. Some popular sites include:
Pescador Island, Cathedral, Santuary, Copton Point Deep, White Beach South, Kasai Wall, &
Goby Point. On night dives or blackout dives, and twilight dives you can visit the same dive sites with different characters of fish and invertebrates performing on stage.
Attractions and Activities
The onsite dive center has three Bankas "B'ankas" which are long and narrow outrigger boats. These modernized versions have out board engines making them more maneuverable, spacious, and quieter. More importantly, no diesel fumes. The boat typically offers one tank dives then back to Magic Island Dive Resort due to the short distances. For farther away dive sites, they can also do 2 one tank dives before returning to port. But you can also snorkel at the southern end of Cebu at Oslob where the whale sharks hang out all year long.
Finally, when you are not in the water, you can take advantage of the onsite spa, get a message or manicure. The Magic Island Dive Resort restaurant features traditional Philippine, European, and vegetarian dishes at a cozy long table venue. The lounge area is complete with a library of marine life books. In the bar they serve San Miguel beer from the Philippines, as well as wine, fabulous cocktails, and fresh fruit shakes. WIFI is everywhere.
