Walindi Plantation Resort is located in Kimbe Bay on New Britain Island in Papua New Guinea. This scuba diving resort has 20 accommodations that come in two styles. They have 12 Bungalows situated in jungle gardens that you access by following paths, yet they face the beach and ocean. So, these bure style quarters are topped with traditional thatched roofs. Walindi Plantation Resort Diving
Walindi has an onsite scuba diving center where you can rent dive gear or take a dive course. Nitrox is available. So, they have 3 custom/purpose-built aluminum dive boats too. There are over 40 dive sites to choose from and they do 2-3 dives a day. You can also sign up for a night dive or dive from shore. The dive sites near Walindi Plantation Resort, have seamounts, pinnacles, reefs, hanging gardens, and wrecks. Two well-known seamounts include
Ingles Shoal and
Ono’s Point.
The Zero is a Japanese plane wreck from WWII. So, you can also view spectacular staghorn and rose pattern corals just off shore.
Seamounts and pinnacles actually separate Kimbe Bay into two fairly equal sized bowls, both of which open out towards the sea.
Attractions and Activities
Casuarina Restaurant at Walindi Plantation Resort, offers Western and Asian cuisine. So, local seafood, fruits, and vegetables is typically shipped in daily. If you have special dietary needs, please inform the resort staff prior to arrival. Breakfast is continental style or you can place cooked orders. Lunch is a la carte. Dinner is typically a 3-course buffet affair. However, dinner may be a la carte depending on the quantity of guests. Planters Bar at Walindi Plantation Resort, is next to the large sun deck and pool. Moreover, WiFi is available in the main house area.
They also have a gift shop called the Blue Taro Boutique, which sells masks, carvings, local jewelry, tooth paste, and bug repellent, among other items. As for other activities, you can hire a private charter boat, go birding, kayaking, snorkel, swim in the pool, sun on the sun deck, or lounge in the lounge chairs. You can also take a town tour.
